Accelerates Interoperability by Simplifying Value Set Management

PR Newswire

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- TermHub, a cloud-based FHIR terminology server and healthcare terminology management platform created to improve healthcare data interoperability, has announced the latest version of its platform featuring comprehensive Value Set capabilities. With this enhancement, healthcare organizations will have more freedom to define, manage, and use subsets of clinical terminologies.

Value Sets: Creating Practical Subsets from Terminologies
Value sets, which are also referred to as subsets, are critical for the effective management of extensive clinical terminologies. They allow healthcare organizations to concentrate on the specific codes required for tasks such as analytics, reporting, quality assessment, and clinical processes by establishing subsets of codes derived from more comprehensive systems. Code systems like SNOMED CT or LOINC can be too large and cumbersome for actual application without value sets.

TermHub Updates for Value Set Management Software
The latest version empowers TermHub users with the following capabilities:

  • Utilize HL7® FHIR® APIs to access value sets, ensuring smooth integration with both clinical and analytical platforms.
  • An intuitive GUI is available for browsing and managing clinical terminology subsets, facilitating exploration and curation activities.
  • Value sets can be downloaded directly, enabling offline access and integration into local systems

Currently Available
In the coming months, WCI will expand TermHub's value set library to include:

  • Lateralizable Body Structure Subset (from SNOMED CT Core)
  • SNOMED CT Core Concepts (from TermHub)
  • SNOMED CT US Extension Concepts (from TermHub)
  • SNOMED CT Model Concepts (from TermHub)

Enhancing Healthcare Data Quality
Over the next few months, WCI plans to enhance TermHub's value by expanding its value set library to include:

  • HL7 FHIR value sets
  • UB-04 billing subsets
  • VSAC and PHIN-VADS
  • BYOD value sets with import and maintenance support

"Value sets improve healthcare data quality by bridging massive clinical terminologies and practical healthcare applications, making them a cornerstone of any healthcare interoperability solution," said Jesse Efron, Chief Operating Officer at WCI. "With this release, we've made it simple to access, manage, and share value sets across systems in real-world use cases, such as for capturing diabetes-related diagnosis codes in CMS eCQMs. And this is just the beginning, as we will expand TermHub with continual additions of standard content. We will also deliver support for BYOD and ongoing maintenance in our upcoming release."

Availability
Value sets are now available in the latest version of TermHub.
