Fluence Energy (FLNC) announced it will deliver a landmark 500 MW / 2000 MWh battery energy storage system for AGL at Tomago in New South Wales, Australia. Finalized late yesterday, the project marks Fluence’s largest global transaction to date and ranks among the largest energy storage deployments ever signed in the Australian National Energy Market.

The Tomago BESS is Fluence’s third grid-scale battery project with AGL, following the 50 MWh Broken Hill system and the under-construction 1000 MWh Liddell BESS. With the addition of Tomago, Fluence now surpasses 5 GWh of storage projects in Australia, one of the company’s most active and strategically important markets.

The system will use Fluence’s Gridstack Pro™ technology, a utility-scale energy storage platform designed to support grid stability and accelerate renewable energy integration. Fluence will handle both construction and ongoing maintenance under the agreement.
