About Lillian R. Melendez
Lillian R. Melendez is an author who has been writing since childhood and began publishing her work at a young age. Born in New York City and raised in South Orange, New Jersey, Melendez developed an early interest in the arts, with creative writing becoming her primary passion. In addition to novels, she writes and publishes short stories and poetry.
Melendez is the author of “Dismantling Vindictiveness and Auditory Viewpoint,” a mystery involving an architectural firm struggling during a recession while facing suspected financial tampering, sabotage, attacks, and murder. The book follows Gloria Rank, a blind New Jersey talk radio host, whose abilities and perspective become important as a dangerous mystery unfolds.
Over the past 10 years, Melendez has developed a freelance writing career that includes full-length fiction, short stories, literary criticism, and public relations and marketing content. Her work has included projects for Mystery Writers of America, Trend Privé Magazine, and various literary e-zines. Her experience also encompasses editing, content strategy, and audience engagement.
In addition to writing, Melendez has spent more than a decade in education, teaching English and creative writing in K-12 and college-level classrooms. She holds certifications in teaching English as a second language and special education.
She has received numerous accolades for her work including being recognized as an Honored Member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, an Influence Woman 2025 and 2026, and Ms. USA World Universe 2022. She was also named Global Beauty magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman in the World.’”
As an entrepreneur, Melendez founded a business offering book-related trinkets intended to encourage young audiences to read. She continues to work on several writing projects, including a memoir and a children’s book for her granddaughter.
Melendez received a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in psychology from Trinity University in Washington, D.C. She received her master’s in teaching from New Jersey City University which is now known as Kean Jersey City University.
